Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is a standing committee that is responsible to the Board of Administration for reviewing and recommending action on all matters concerning financial actions of the local church and the conference at large. The finance committee may also fulfill special projects as assigned by the Board of Administration. As with all Free Methodist Church leadership, the board is composed of an equal number of ministerial and lay (non-ordained) leaders.

Board Report

As we can all expect, we are not where we planned to be at the beginning of the year. The immediate impact of the coronavirus affected not only our conference budget but also the budgets of our local churches. Working with the superintendents, we developed a number of plans for the conference budget which included significant thought into how we need to be responsive as a conference to our local churches. In short, we reduced our expenditures by over 25% and secured a line of credit in anticipation of needing to assist our local churches. Overall, the Lord has been faithful and our pastors have led creatively, working within their respective budgets.

As the second quarter of 2020 has ended, we are going to be actively looking at the realities facing each of our ministries and be as responsive as possible to continue ministry effectively. Please continue to pray for this committee as we have more work to do both in the local church and in the conference to build a sustainable foundation of financial accountability and clarity.
